If you haven’t heard, upstates New York is wooing the gays thanks to the fact it’s now legal to get married in the state of New York. Thumbs up (limpy wrist and all) as a safe destination for same-sex weddings, honeymoons and getaways, the entire state of New York has become a gay playground (gay-ground?). Anyway, that’s right, people. The gays are leaving the island of Manhattan to check out the woods, most particularly the Catskills.
Now, the irony of the Catskills? It’s already been a super gay destination, especially Sullivan County, where many business owners are “friends of the family,” and there’s even a local gay guide to the county. Come July 14, the ever popular Catskill Distillery next to Dancing Cat Saloon is having a huge gay day soiree, sponsored by the Gay and Lesbian Alliance of the Catskills (GALA Catskills). Expect live entertainment (including music by cast members of The Rocky Horror Picture Show), a Dog of the Day contest (bring your pooch!), local food vendors and booze (Peace vodka, anyone?). And who knows. You may bump into our friends Michelle Williams and Mark Ruffalo, both of whom own homes here.

Can’t wait to see everyone there!!!
